Family Services
Once each half-term, our 10am service on a Sunday is a Family Communion, planned with children in mind. This service tends to be livelier than our regular Sunday services, usually involving the children in some acting or an interactive talk. They sometimes help lead the prayers, and there are simple musical instruments to use in the last hymn. For the youngest children, there are toys and colouring sheets available throughout the service on the children’s table by the organ console.
Family Communions last about 50-60 minutes and often fall on special occasions, such as Harvest or Mothering Sunday. We find that children enjoy them, but so too do the adults! Coffee is served after the service at the back of Church.
As well as our regular Family Communions, we also organise special services for children.
Carols4Kids
On Christmas Eve we have our hugely popular Carols4Kids. Each year 300 adults and children relive the Christmas story as some of the children act it out.
Children’s Good Friday Service
At Easter we have a short Good Friday children’s service. We tell the story of Easter and then involve the children in a creative activity, such as making Easter gardens to take home.
