Costs and Funding

Funding the project

THE COST OF THE PROJECT

Splitting the building project into four phases, the Quantity Surveyor has estimated costs as follows:
Phase 1: archaeological survey, moving gravestones, altering the existing Church Room………..£132,000
Phase 2: building the new extension………………………………………………………………………£324,000
Phase 3: the internal changes to the Church ……………………………………………………………..£220,000
Phase 4: building the glass link …………………………………………………………………………… £110,000

FINDING THE FUNDING

This is a huge amount to raise. St Peter’s Church has committed £75,000 from savings to the project. Following the appeal that was launched in March 2009, the total raised or pledged for the Development Fund by February 2010 was £325,000. The Development Fund has increased dramatically thanks to an anonymous donation of £30,000 (+ £8,000 Gift Aid) from a member of the wider community, and a grant of £35,000.

That leaves about £130,000 to find to enable us to complete Phases 1 and 2. Grant-making bodies are being approached, and a fundraising committee is working on activities. A substantial number of fundraising events have been organized by members of the congregation, from sponsored walks, swims and cycle rides to coffee mornings, lunches, suppers and concerts. But if we are to succeed, we need further support from the wider community in Wolvercote Parish. Can you help us raise this money for the benefit of our community, especially the pre-school groups?

HOW YOU CAN HELP

By giving a donation (one-off now, annually for two or three years, or by monthly standing order over 12/24/36 months) and by Gift-Aiding your donation (if you are a UK taxpayer).

To make a donation straightaway on-line, click on Making a donation.

Also:
By suggesting a fundraising activity and organising it.
By donating something in kind (e.g. an object/service we could auction; wine/food for an event; homemade food or crafts for sale).

If you can help in any of these ways, please contact Peter Bridges (twpeterbridges@btinternet.com) as soon as you can.
