Mission Giving

At St Peter’s Church, we are conscious of our responsibility to help others with needs both in our community and around the world. Ten percent of our annual income from Donations and Legacies – including pledged giving, Gift Aid payments, open plate collections at services and sundry donations – goes to mission and charity work. In 2016 this totalled £9,230. Go to Supported Organisations to learn more about the local and international organisations, focused on social justice, helping the poor and marginalised, which we supported in 2016.

Several special collections occur throughout the year including at the Church Fete, Harvest Supper, Missions for Seafarers, Christmas Services, the Children’s Society box collections and Christian Aid. In 2016 these special collections raised over £8,161 in addition to the £9,230 from pledges. Beneficiaries were: Christian Aid Syria Appeal, Sobell House and St Peter’s Children’s work (from the Church Fete); Christian Aid South Sudan appeal (Harvest Supper); & The Gatehouse (a drop-in centre for the homeless in Oxford) and Christian Aid (Christmas services & Christian Aid week). Christian Aid week in 2017 raised £2834.20 inc. Gift Aid.

Contributions of tinned or dry food are passed to the Community Emergency Food Bank.
