Mission Giving

At St Peter’s Church, we are conscious of our responsibility to help others with needs both in our community and around the world. Ten percent of our annual income from donations – including pledged giving, Gift Aid payments, and open plate collections at services – goes to charitable organisations. In 2024 this came to £10,380. Added to this is the proceeds from the Church’s 100 Club (see below), bringing the total to £11,674 available for mission grants.

Read our Mission Giving Policy here. Anyone on our Electoral Roll is eligible to propose charities for nomination. Nomination forms are promoted around the time of our APCM in April.

The PCC has agreed that grants are made to the following organisations in 2024:

Local charities
Wolvercote Young People's Club
The Community Emergency Foodbank
The Agnes Smith Advice Centre
Restore - working for mental health
Cutteslowe Community Larder

National charities
The Woodland Trust

International charities
Christian Aid
Mission Aviation Fellowship
Open Doors
Amani Centre for Street Children (Tanzania)

Several special collections took place throughout the year including at the Church Fete, Christmas Services, the Children’s Society box collections and Christian Aid. In addition to the charities nominated for mission giving grants, beneficiaries included: Helen & Douglas House HospiceThe Gatehouse and The Porch.

Contributions of tinned or dry food are passed to the Community Emergency Food Bank

The 100 Club

The 100 Club is a monthly cash draw. It raised over £8,200 towards St Peter’s organ appeal, and proceeds now go to St Peter’s Mission Giving.

Draws take place on the fourth Sunday of the month. One cash prize of £100 and four prizes of £25 are awarded at each draw. Winners are contacted directly. Individuals may buy any number of stakes up to a maximum of 8. One numbered stake costs £5.00 per month, payable in advance by cheque or Bankers standing order. At present, no more than 100 numbers are entered into each draw. Players must be 18 years of age or over.

How to join
