St Peter's is an open, inclusive community of people from all walks of life who are seeking to love and serve God in this parish. We hope you will find worship which is reverent, reflective, stilling and uplifting, and a congregation who are warm and welcoming. Children and young people are valued members of our Church.

As a Church community, we try to reflect the love of God for all his creation, as revealed in Jesus' life, death and resurrection; we try to explore the questions which life presents us with, both as individuals and as a society; and we seek to live out our faith through active service to this parish and the wider world.

You are most welcome to join us on this journey with God and towards God - a journey of exploration, thanksgiving, celebration and reflection.

Worship in church and private prayer during the pandemic

All are welcome to join our services. Booking is no longer required but we encourage mask wearing and hand sanitising. There is space to sit socially-distanced if you prefer. Bring your own printed or electronic copy of the order of service available from the link on the Home Page or in the enews.

To keep up with our rapidly-changing situation, join our mailing list to receive e-newsletters which provide up to date information on opportunities for prayer and worship online and in church.

We offer the following pattern of services.

Sundays weekly:
08:00 Eucharist (Common Worship) & 10:00 Eucharist with music

2nd and 4th Sundays
12:00 noon Holy Communion (BCP - no music)
.

Second Sunday Evening Service: A monthly service on the second Sunday of the month at 7pm with a contemplative flavour. Generally non-Eucharistic.

Morning Prayer: Mondays & Thursdays at 09:15

Wednesday eucharist 12:00 noon. A simple Eucharist lasting about half an hour, and offering a time of stillness and reflection during the week.

Julian Meetings - Meeting in silence with God
A 30-minute Julian meeting is held in St Peter’s at 11:45 on the second, fourth (and fifth) Tuesday of the month.

Julian Meetings are open and ecumenical; all are welcome if they are willing to respect the Christian context.  Come either for a regular time of silent prayer, or just occasionally. Further details from Sandie Capel and Josephine Seccombe

If you’re unable to receive Holy Communion use this prayer to bring yourself into the sense of God’s presence that we feel when we are able to receive communion.

Lord Jesus Christ, since I cannot at this time receive communion, I pray you to come into my heart. I unite myself with you and embrace you with all my heart, my soul, and my mind. Let nothing separate me from you; let me serve you in this life until, by your grace, I come to your glorious kingdom and unending peace. Amen.
