We are a local community church, here for all who live in this part of Oxford. During the current outbreak of Covid-19 we are more than ever conscious that the church is not a building, although we love ours. It is a living community of faithful people who are committed to trying to enact God’s loving purposes. We hope soon, again, to move in step with regular milestones in village life, supporting local events and responding to concerns for our environment, green spaces and valued heritage. What follows is what we ordinarily and normally do - may it soon resume!
Our Vision
Exploring our vision takes us on a journey of learning and discovery which we share with the other churches in the Summertown and Wolvercote Partnership.
We hope you will join us!
BEcoming closer to god
We seek to grow in every area of our church life through prayer
Our Julian Prayer group, Home groups, and Friday morning “Early Birds” are all opportunities to express our dependence on the life and power of God in all we do.
Celebrating his loving purposes
Worship is a high priority at St Peter’s
We offer worship for both children and adults
We enjoy celebrating special occasions and festivals throughout the church year, especially proclaiming the life, death and resurrection of Jesus
Reaching out unconditionally
We believe that Jesus' life and teaching show God's unconditional love for us
We believe we are called to show God’s unconditional love in our community
We seek to take the church out into the community, inviting the community into church, and developing church life so it's welcoming and accessible for all
Showing God’s love for all creation
We believe Jesus' coming is Good News not only for us but for all people and all of God’s creation
We seek to show this by working for social justice and practical action for the poor, the hungry, the persecuted and the homeless
We believe we're called to care for the environment and for all of His creation
