MISSION GIVING

At St Peter’s Church, we are conscious of our responsibility to help others with needs both in our community and around the world. Ten percent of our annual income from donations – including pledged giving, Gift Aid payments, and open plate collections at services – goes to mission and charity work. Read our Mission Giving Policy here.

In 2023 this will be £9375. Added to this will be the proceeds from the Church’s 100 club (see below). A total of just under £11,500 is therefore available for mission grants. Go to Supported Organisations to learn more about the local, national and international organisations focused on social justice, helping the poor and marginalised, which we supported in 2022.

Several special collections took place throughout the year including at the Church Fete, Christmas Services, the Children’s Society box collections and Christian Aid. In addition to the charities named earlier, beneficiaries included: Children Heard and Seen, Sobell House Hospice, Oxford Historic Churches Trust and Wolvercote Young Peoples Club.

Contributions of tinned or dry food are passed to the Community Emergency Food Bank.

The 100 Club

The 100 Club, a monthly cash draw, raised over £8,200 towards St Peter’s organ appeal. Proceeds of around £2,500 per year now go to St Peter’s Mission Giving.

Draws take place on the fourth Sunday of the month. One cash prize of £100 and four prizes of £25 are awarded at each draw. Winners are contacted directly. Individuals may buy any number of stakes up to a maximum of 8. One numbered stake costs £5.00 per month, payable in advance by cheque or Bankers standing order. At present, no more than 100 numbers are entered into each draw. Players must be 18 years of age or over.

How to join

Complete a 100 Club Application Form with a tear off return slip and a Bankers’ Standing Order form (if appropriate). Return the form, cheque and/or Bankers Order to Bill Clarke (44 Home Close, Wolvercote OX2 8PT; tel 01865 510109)  or leave at the back of the church.
