St Peter’s Rooms comprise a refurbished ‘Old School Room’ and a new ‘Parish Room’, available for hire separately or together.
Location: Conveniently located next to the parish church of St Peter, and close to local facilities and transport links to the city, St Peter’s Rooms are an ideal location for meetings, celebrations and evening classes.
The new Parish Room: A large multi-functional space with wooden floor, solid stone walls and an entire wall of glass doors, opening onto an inner, semi-enclosed courtyard. Glass lanterns flood the interior with light. Independent lighting circuits create a variety of moods to suit any event. An adjoining large kitchen is fitted with all the usual appliances including a double oven, microwave oven, and industrial dishwasher, and equipped with tableware for about 40 people.

Rates : Each room may be hired for a basic £15.00 per hour (£16.00 from 1 January 2023). Use of the Parish Room kitchen for self-catered parties or events using outside caterers attracts an additional charge of £13.00 or £6.00 only for use of church-owned beverage ware. A refundable, advance booking deposit is required for all single events. Rates are reviewed on an annual basis. Regular users will be advised of rate revisions three months in advance. The Old School Room, a Grade II listed building building, forms the second side of the courtyard and retaining many of its original Victorian features. The main room, with wooden floor, opens directly into a kitchen area with beverageware for 40 people.
Each room accommodates up to 40 people seated. The Parish Room can hold 60 people standing. The Old School Room accommodates 45 people standing.
The Glass Link: Running from the Old School Room, alongside the Parish Room, a glass corridor extends usable space from St Peter’s Rooms into St Peter’s Church. The glass walls open completely into the Parish Room and the courtyard, creating a wonderful space for summer events.
With high quality finishing throughout, St Peter’s Rooms meet current standards for Health and Safety and disabled access. Tables, chairs and a piano are included in the hire charge. Induction loops are fitted in both rooms.
